Along with our name changes, the school Parent Association and some wonderful volunteers have helped to provide some fresh looks here on campus. A student volunteer, 7th grader Nadou, led an effort to paint a beautiful mural at the elementary school. This mural depicts a historically accurate Jesus Christ holding hands with several children who are in school dress code here in Cedar Rapids. This picture includes a symbolic suggestion of the Trinity, and the Cedar River, and it covers an entire wall opposite the elementary school gymnasium. That gymnasium is also receiving a full paint job including an updated logo and new cross. Athletic director, Jason Dole, resourced a donated cross for the middle school gym, which also has a new logo painted on it and is going to include banners for all of the teams in our athletic conference. Mr. Dole also purchased several new and branded chairs for athletes to use during games. One need not walk all the way to the gymnasiums, though, to see the fresh updates. Immediately as one steps into either building, new school-branded mats welcome guests. These mats are seen throughout the campus. Other pieces are still in play, including one last fun surprise for the students, but we can't share everything all at once! We are so excited to welcome the students back in August to see the beautiful new look. Like everything we do here, it should tell each student "you matter"!
